Record Breaker Program
Current Target: Mach 0.65
About
The Record Breaker Program is an iterative program focused on breaking the Guinness World Record for the fastest remote-controlled jet-powered plane. Designed to develop multiple vehicles within the constraints set by Guinness and the FAA, this program exists to develop the team's skills in designing ever-faster aircraft. As each iteration flies and the bar is set even higher, the team will be forced to develop new solutions to the challenge of breaking the next speed barrier, all in preparation for the ultimate challenge: breaking the speed of sound. The first vehicle of the program is currently in development. Record Breaker Vehicle 1 (RBV-1) is aimed to be a Mach 0.65 jet-powered RC plane, the first of its kind at Georgia Tech and the fastest such hobby-grade vehicle in the world. The vehicle is currently under development, and a first-flight is tentatively slated for late 2025.
