About
The Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) team at GTSC is charged with spearheading the development of avionics, flight dynamic simulations, communications systems, transmissions, and autonomous control mechanisms for all of our vehicles. Focused on ensuring seamless coordination between ground-based electronic systems, onboard avionics, and autonomous flight protocols, our team is dedicated to driving forward high-speed, long-range communications and precision controls to support our supersonic ambitions.
Central to our objectives is the importance placed on Hyperion's controllability, where stability, maneuverability, and robust throttle controls are critical for performance. From the initial stages of validation through to the forthcoming record-breaking attempts, the GNC team remains committed to guaranteeing the controllability, communications, and stability of Hyperion. As we march forward, we are concurrently engaged in the finalization of a ground station crafted for strong communication and trajectory control of our aircraft.
Within the team's dynamic realm, our current focus lies in the testing and calibration of several critical components, including flight computers, receivers, transmitters, onboard sensors, and propulsion system controllers. These efforts are constantly undertaken to guarantee that our flagship prototype vehicle, Hyperion, operates with optimized control and guidance systems poised to navigate challenging terrains with high efficiency. Additonally, our team is focused on creating high fidelity aircraft simuations to allow us to simulate and understand the performance of the aircraft in detail to determine safety protocols and adjustments to control methods to further improve the performance of our vehicles.
With this ground station's deployment, we will not only gain unparalleled insights into the performance of our aircraft but also pave the way for the seamless integration of autonomous navigation systems, propelling us ever closer to our ultimate goal of pushing the boundaries towards supersonic development. Additionally, the team is working on several R&D projects such as head-turning gimble cameras, wireless aircraft charging stations, and weight-efficient retractable landing gear. Leveraging our avionics, controls simulations, ground stations, and resesarch projects, our team aims to ensure full guidance, navigation, and control support for all of the future vehicles that the supersonics club aims to develop.
